Preserving Your Legacy
Artisan Leather is renowned for its strength and characteristic grain, but like all natural materials, it requires proper care to age gracefully. A well-maintained Artisan Leather bag won't just last a lifetime — it will tell your story through its evolving patina.
The Routine
Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe away dust and debris weekly. For spots, use a slightly damp cloth with mild, pH-balanced leather cleaner. Never soak the leather.
Every 6–12 months, apply a high-quality leather conditioner. This keeps the fibers supple and prevents the buffalo hide from drying or cracking in low humidity.
Keep your bag away from prolonged direct sunlight and extreme heat sources, which can fade the natural dyes and brittle the hide fibers.
Artisan Leather is naturally water-resistant, but it is not waterproof. If your bag gets wet, do not use a hairdryer. Stuff the bag with dry paper towels to maintain its shape and let it air dry naturally at room temperature.
Avoid chemical solvents, abrasive brushes, or waxes that contain silicone, as these can clog the pores of the full-grain leather.
Storage Wisdom
When your Duffel or Messenger isn't in use, store it in the Artisan Leather Dust Bag provided with your purchase. Fill the interior with bubble wrap or clean cloth to help it retain its structure. Avoid storing in plastic bags, as leather needs to "breathe" to prevent mildew.
Scuffs & Character
Because we use full-grain leather, small scratches may occur. These are often easily "healed" by simply rubbing the area with your thumb — the natural oils from your skin help blend the scuff into the leather's patina, adding to its rugged character.
