Why Our Bags Have No Logo
Look at a designer bag and part of what you pay for is the name stamped on it. We took the name off. Artisan Leather bags have no logo on the outside, so the money goes where you can feel it: into the leather, the stitching and the hardware.
What you pay for instead
- Full-grain leather only. The top layer of the hide, left uncoated and unsanded. It is the strongest grade, it breathes, and it develops a patina with use. We never use bonded leather, PU, or the vague "genuine leather".
- Hand-stitching. Every bag is hand-cut and hand-stitched by skilled makers at our partner workshop in Pakistan.
- A fair price, set once. No inflated "was" prices and no fake sales. See how we price.
How to check any leather bag, ours included
- Read the label. "Full-grain" is the top grade. "Genuine leather" is a trade term that usually means a lower grade.
- Look at the surface. Full-grain shows natural pores, small marks and variation. A perfectly even, plasticky surface is usually coated or corrected.
- Look at the edges. Cut edges should be finished cleanly, not fraying or peeling.
- Bend it. Real leather creases softly and recovers. Coated or synthetic material can crack.
- Smell it. Leather smells like leather. Synthetic material smells like plastic or chemicals.
